The HDPE pond liner is made of HDPE film as a base material. Its anti-seepage performance mainly depends on the HDPE film. The HDPE film used in oriental anti-seepage film mainly includes polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene, EVA (ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer), which are a kind of polymer chemical flexible material with small specific gravity, strong elongation, adaptability to deformation, high corrosion resistant, low temperature resistant and good frost resistance. The main mechanism is to block the earth dam leakage passage of the plastic film, and to withstand the water pressure and adapt to the deformation of the dam with its large tensile strength and elongation.

Many farmers generally use relatively economical and practical soil ponds. However, for some ponds that are harder or narrower, or soil sands, in order to prevent water leakage in ponds, anti-seepage treatment should be considered. The HDPE pond liner is laid in the pond to prevent leakage, which is lower than the cement hardening cost. When the pond is not dried, the HDPE liner should be placed to prevent the soil from piercing the HDPE pond liner. The specific method is to dig a trench at the bottom of the slope around the field. The depth of the trench is 20-30 cm. The slope and the surface of the sloping surface are basically leveled, and then from the bottom of the trench on the side of the pond to the surface of the trench, and then to the bottom of the other side of the pond. Lay the HDPE pond liner, wrap the whole pond, then return the soil to fill the trench and compact it. The HDPE pond liner joint is firmly sealed with a heat sealing machine or a strong glue. It is not allowed to leave a seam to prevent water leakage or muddy drilling. Generally, a HDPE liner with a thickness of about 1.0mm is used, and the laying operation is relatively extensive, and the service life of the film is generally about 20 years. 

 The Ethiopian Flower Growers received a 1mm HDPE pond liner that they installed for a reservoir irrigation pond for flower irrigation, along with some fish farming in the pond.
